The fine print, in plain English

1. What this library is — and isn't

The vision is simple: make available new innovations and no-longer-available parts and piano-related items, so the craft's knowledge stays in the trade instead of disappearing when a shop closes. The library is a neutral meeting place where independent piano technicians post their own work and download others'.

It is not a store, a manufacturer, a publisher, or a certifying body. Brigham Larson Pianos operates the library as a community service and founding contributor — but the files, designs, videos, and services here come from many independent people, not from us.

2. We do not vet, review, or guarantee contributions

This is the most important thing to understand:

• We do not review contributions for quality, accuracy, safety, or fitness for any purpose. A file being in the library is not an endorsement, a stamp of approval, or a promise that it will work, fit, or be safe.
• We do not verify intellectual-property or legal rights. We do not check whether a design is patented, trademarked, copyrighted, or otherwise owned by someone else. We have no practical way to do so, and we don't try.
• We do not test parts. Piano parts and tools can fail, break, or cause injury or instrument damage if they are poorly designed, wrong for the application, or improperly made. Nothing here has been tested or certified by us.

Everything in the library is provided "as is," with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

3. Every contributor is their own independent entity

Each contributor is a separate, independent person or business — not an agent, employee, or partner of Brigham Larson Pianos or the library. Each contributor is solely responsible for:

• The quality, accuracy, and safety of what they share;
• Their own legal compliance, representations, warranties, and obligations;
• Any transactions, communications, payments, or services they arrange with other users;
• Their own taxes, licenses, insurance, and business matters.

When you download from or transact with a contributor, your relationship is directly with that contributor. The library is not a party to it.

4. Contributors: only share work you have the right to share

If you contribute, you represent and warrant that:

• You created the work yourself, or you otherwise have the full legal right to share it and to grant others the right to download and use it;
• Your contribution does not infringe anyone's patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other rights;
• You are not sharing proprietary or confidential designs owned by a colleague, employer, manufacturer, or anyone else.

Please do not upload proprietary designs that belong to others. The purpose of this library is to preserve obsolete, no-longer-available parts and to share your own innovations — not to redistribute someone else's protected intellectual property. When in doubt, leave it out, or ask the owner first.

You keep ownership of what you contribute. By sharing it here you grant other users permission to download and use it for their work, and you grant the library permission to host, display, and distribute it for as long as it remains posted.

5. Use at your own risk

You use the library, download files, reproduce parts, and follow techniques entirely at your own risk and professional judgment. You are responsible for verifying that anything you make or install is correct, safe, and appropriate for the instrument and situation in front of you. If you are not qualified to evaluate a part or technique, get help from someone who is.

6. Ratings and feedback make the community safer

Because no one is vetting quality for you, the community's own experience is the best guide. We strongly encourage you to:

• Rate contributors and their contributions honestly;
• Leave detailed, constructive feedback about what worked, what didn't, and what to watch out for;
• Use others' ratings and feedback to decide which contributors and files to prioritize.

Abundant, honest feedback is how a use-at-your-own-risk community protects its members. Please contribute to it generously — and keep it fair, factual, and professional.

7. Payments, printing, and shipping (when offered)

Some contributors may offer paid downloads or "print & ship" services, arranged and paid for directly between the contributor and the user (for example, through peer-to-peer payment links). Brigham Larson Pianos and the library do not process, hold, guarantee, or insure these payments and are not responsible for the fulfillment, quality, timing, or refunding of any such transaction, except where Brigham Larson Pianos is itself the fulfilling party for a specific order. Resolve payment and service disputes directly with the other party.

8. Report a problem or a rights concern

If you believe something here infringes your rights, is proprietary, is unsafe, or otherwise doesn't belong, tell us and we'll review it in good faith and remove content where appropriate. Email info@brighamlarsonpianos.com with a link to the item and a short explanation. We can't offer legal judgments, but we can take material down.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Brigham Larson Pianos, the Piano Technology Library, and everyone involved in running it are not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or cost arising from your use of the library, from any contribution, or from any transaction between users — including damage to instruments, tools, or property, personal injury, lost work, or intellectual-property claims. You use the library because you find it useful, and you accept that risk in exchange.

10. You agree to indemnify

If your contribution or your conduct causes a claim against Brigham Larson Pianos or the library — for example, an intellectual-property claim over something you uploaded — you agree to cover the resulting costs to the extent the law allows. In short: own what you share.

11. Changes

The library is evolving, and these terms may be updated as it grows. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the library means you accept the current version.
